Scalp Shading · Once a week · Matte finish
Densgrove Density Cream
Fibers sit on top. Densgrove goes underneath: it shades the scalp so thin spots look fuller. Once a week, not every morning.
Tinted cream for hair and scalp · 30 ml per bottle · work it in, let it set, rinse
Free US shipping · $42 a bottle with 2 bottles + brush
- Scalp Shading: tints the scalp and the hair at the same time, in your shade, so the scalp doesn't shine through.
- Underneath, not on top: no fibers, no powder sitting on your hair. Work it in, let it set, rinse. Nothing loose on top.
- Once a week: let it set a few minutes, rinse, style. It stays on for several days and fades with regular shampooing.
- Matte, natural-looking finish: works on short hair too. A crop, a fade, a short side part.
- Your shade, or a free swap: match the hair right at your roots, in daylight. Between two? Pick the lighter one.

Fibers & powders vs. Densgrove
Fibers sit on top. Densgrove goes underneath.
Typical properties of each product category, not specific brands.

It's not the hair. It's the light.
Thin hair looks thinnest under light from above: elevators, bathroom mirrors, office ceilings, a phone camera held up high, Zoom. The light passes between the hairs, hits the lighter scalp and bounces back. Your eye reads that bright patch as empty. What people see is the contrast between hair and scalp, not a hair count. We call it the Overhead-Light Effect. You've seen it in every elevator: the same head looks fuller in soft side light than under a ceiling spot.

How it works
Shade the scalp. The light has nothing to bounce off.
Densgrove tints the scalp and the hair at the same time, in your shade, with a matte finish. Less contrast between hair and scalp means the light has nothing bright to bounce off, so the area reads as fuller-looking hair. We call it Scalp Shading.
- 1 · The Overhead-Light Effect: light from above passes between the hairs, hits the lighter scalp and bounces back. That bright patch is what the eye reads as thin.
- 2 · Scalp Shading: Densgrove tints scalp and hair together, in your shade, matte. It softens the contrast between hair and scalp, so the scalp doesn't shine through.
- 3 · Underneath, not on top: fibers and powders put loose particles on top of the hair, and the bright scalp is still underneath. Densgrove shades the scalp itself, then you rinse. Nothing loose sits on top.
- 4 · Once a week: work it in, let it set a few minutes, rinse. A weekly routine instead of a daily shake-and-spray.
Everyday moments
Made for the worst light of the day.

The elevator
Mirror walls, one spotlight straight above, nowhere to look for six floors. The Overhead-Light Effect at its most honest. With the scalp shaded, there's less bright contrast for that light to find.

The 10 o'clock and the Zoom
Ceiling panels in the meeting room, then a video call with the ceiling light straight above you. A weekly routine instead of a morning one: one less thing to check before you click join.

Date night
Pendant lights over the table, a phone held up high for the photo. Your shade, matte, and nothing loose on top: no fibers, no powder.

The bathroom mirror
Vanity lights straight down, the one mirror everyone checks twice. Your shade on hair and scalp, matte, nothing loose on top.

How to use
Once a week. Four steps.
Repeat about once a week, or when it starts to fade. First time? Do a patch test 48 hours before (behind the ear).
- 1 · Towel-dry, clean hair. Wash as usual, then towel off. The cream goes onto clean hair.
- 2 · Work it in. A pea-to-hazelnut-size amount into the thin areas, scalp and roots, with your fingertips or the brush.
- 3 · Let it set a few minutes. Hands off while it sets. Good time for a coffee.
- 4 · Rinse, dry, style. Rinse with water, dry and style. It fades with regular shampooing.

Shade Finder
Match your roots, in daylight.
Shades: Black, Dark Brown, Medium Brown, Light Brown and Dark Gray. One rule, the same everywhere: match the hair right at your roots, in daylight. Between two? Pick the lighter one. You can always add a second layer.
- Roots, not ends: look at the hair right where it leaves the scalp. That's the shade to match.
- Daylight, not a ceiling spot: stand by a window. The bathroom spotlight is the worst light to judge color in.
- Between two? The lighter one: you can always add a second layer.
- Gray or salt-and-pepper: pick the shade closest to the overall color at your roots. Same rule: between two, the lighter one.
- Wrong shade? We swap it free: tell us within 30 days of delivery and we send you another shade (first order, one swap).

Honest fit check
Who it's for. Who it isn't.
Densgrove makes thin areas look fuller. It doesn't change your hair itself. Here's the straight version, before you order.
- For you if: you've got thin spots on top, at the crown or along the part, and the scalp shows under bright light.
- For you if: you wear your hair short to medium (a crop, a fade, a short side part) and want to look like yourself.
- For you if: you're done with the daily fibers-and-powder routine and want something you do once a week.
- Not for you if: the area is completely smooth, with no hair to blend with. Densgrove shades the scalp between hairs.
- Not for you if: you're looking for a treatment. Densgrove is a cosmetic: it changes how thin areas look, not your hair.
- Not for you if: your scalp is broken, irritated or sunburned, or the patch test shows a reaction.
